Col Avtar Singh Hira, took premature retirement from Indian Army in 2001. Later, he served in a Defence PSU and Corporate Sector, now finally settled at Mohali since 2016. He is a Mechanical Engineer and Fellow of Institution of Engineers, India. He takes keen interest in the welfare activities of farmers and ESM and is heading ESM welfare organization, UDF of Rupnagar district. He has written papers on Punjab River Waters and irrigation system. He also takes keen interest in the field of education and is a member of Executive Committee of Sikh Educational Society, Chandigarh.
